THE DAYS WORTH KEEPING

Terms of Service

1. Using Field Chapters

These terms apply to the Field Chapters website, account journal, shared-outing features, Field Library and book tools, operated by A-Town JAM LLC (“we,” “us” or “our”). By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.

You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms. Do not create an account for a child under 13. Adults may record family outings when they have appropriate permission to include other people’s information and photos.

2. Your account

Use accurate account information, protect your password and do not use someone else’s account without authorization. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Email verification is required for inviting and accepting companions. Contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. Your stories and photographs

You retain ownership of content you upload. You give us a limited, nonexclusive permission to store, process, display and reproduce that content as needed to provide the features you use, including shared outings and book creation. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to us.

Only upload material you own or have permission to use. Obtain appropriate permission before including another person’s photos, personal details or precise location. Do not submit content that infringes someone’s rights, unlawfully exposes private information, contains threats or harassment, or is otherwise unlawful.

4. Shared outings

Inviting a companion and accepting an invitation are deliberate sharing choices. Accepted participants can see the shared outing, photos, contributions and exact location when recorded, add their own notes and photos, and choose whether to include the outing in their journal and book collection. Owners and participants must respect each other’s rights and permissions.

Removing a participant or leaving an outing changes future access through the service. It does not erase copies that someone has already saved to their Field Library, downloaded, shared or printed. You must not assume a sharing choice can be completely reversed after others have made copies.

5. Books and printing

Use Save draft to keep unfinished book choices, captions and chapter order. Signed-in drafts are saved to your account; guest drafts stay in this browser. Drafts use the current source outings when resumed, so changes or removal of shared content may affect them. Review the latest stories, photos and locations before publishing. Previously captured maps must be recaptured when resuming a draft.

The current digital book tool prepares a standalone downloadable edition. Saving it to Field Library keeps a private snapshot in your account. Later changes to the source journal do not automatically revise that book. Downloading or sharing a file shares the contents you selected, including any embedded photos and maps.

You may create a reading link for a finished book in Field Library. Anyone with that link can read, copy or forward its contents, including the photos, companion contributions and locations you selected. Links can expire or be revoked; removing the saved book also revokes its link. Revocation stops future access through the link but cannot recall an already opened edition or retained copies. Reading links are not listed publicly or intended for search indexing. Review the complete edition before sharing it.

“Physical” and “Both” currently prepare printable proofs and record a preferred cover type. They do not place an order, charge you, reserve a product or guarantee availability of hardcover, softcover or leather editions. Browser print/PDF output is a proof rather than a printer-ready production guarantee.

If physical ordering launches, you will receive pricing, shipping, production, cancellation and return information before checkout. Any print or payment partner’s applicable terms will also be presented. No purchase is required to use today’s proof tools.

6. Maps and outdoor responsibility

Map tiles and city lookups depend on external providers and may be inaccurate or unavailable. Pin locations, journal observations and historical conditions are records, not navigation, safety, land-access or legal advice. Independently verify access permissions, current conditions, seasons, licensing, limits and other rules that apply to your outing. Recording an activity in Field Chapters does not authorize it.

When you export a map, preserve the attribution and license information included with it. Do not use the service to bypass a map provider’s restrictions.

7. Early access, storage and backups

Features and storage limits can change as Field Chapters develops. The service may be interrupted or contain errors. Guest content exists in your browser and can be lost if that storage is cleared. Keep copies of important stories, photos and books using the export and download tools.

Account storage has limits shown in the service. Removing an outing is not currently permanent erasure of all associated data. The Privacy Policy explains retention and how to request account closure or permanent deletion.

8. Acceptable use and access

Do not attempt to access another user’s private content, bypass authentication or storage limits, disrupt the service, introduce malicious code, or send abusive invitations. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, respond to unlawful use, or meet legal obligations. Contact us if you believe an access restriction is mistaken.

9. Service expectations and legal rights

We aim to provide a useful, reliable journal, but cannot guarantee continuous availability, recovery of every lost file, error-free maps or compatibility of a print proof with every printer. To the extent allowed by applicable law, the early-access service is provided as available without promises beyond those expressly made in these terms. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms as features develop and will update the effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the service or appropriate account notices. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service; you may use available export tools and request account closure.

For support, account requests or questions about these terms, contact the Field Chapters team or email hello@atownjam.com. Do not send your password.
