YOUR MEMORIES. YOUR CHOICES. Privacy Policy Effective October 10, 2026 Your journal is personal. This page explains what Field Chapters stores, what sharing reveals, and the choices you have. Field Chapters is your private outdoor journal. Outings and saved books are private to your account unless you choose to share them through the features described below. Guest entries stay in your browser. Invited companions can see shared stories, photos and precise locations, and can keep their own book copies. 1. Information we collect Account details: your name, email address, a password hash, email-verification status and account/session records. We do not store your password in readable form. Your content: outings, dates, species, methods, companions, conditions, observations, stories, harvest and release counts, uploaded photos, city/state, area descriptions and optional precise coordinates. Sharing and books: invitation recipients, membership choices, companion contributions, saved book drafts with captions and chapter choices, and the finished digital editions you save in Field Library. Contact messages: your name, email, optional phone, inquiry type, message and the complete page URL where you submit the form. Our support team receives these details by email to respond to your request. Technical information: session cookies, security and request records, and information received by our hosting and analytics providers, such as IP address, browser/device information and page activity. Original photo files can contain embedded metadata, including the time and place they were taken. Field Chapters does not currently strip that metadata. Review or remove sensitive metadata before uploading or sharing photos. 2. Guest journals and account storage Guest outings and photos are stored on the device and browser you use. Clearing browser storage or changing devices can make those entries unavailable. Signing in does not automatically upload guest entries; you choose whether to import them. Guest book drafts also stay in this browser until you remove them or clear browser storage. Signed-in book drafts are private to your account and can be resumed across devices. Drafts reference current outing content; they do not preserve a finished snapshot. Signed-in outings, photos and saved books are stored on our hosting service so you can access them across devices. 3. How we use information We use information to operate your journal and Field Library, store and display photos, send account and invitation emails, manage shared outings, protect accounts, resolve support requests and understand which product features work well. We do not make your journal a public feed or sell your stories and photographs. Optional weather lookup uses the selected state, date and a nearby airport station to retrieve public observations from Iowa Environmental Mesonet. The archive receives those station/date requests, not your name, stories or exact outing coordinates. Your recorded weather is saved with the outing and can be included in shared outings, exports and books. Weather times use the displayed station time zone; nearby station observations may differ from your actual conditions. 4. Shared outings and book copies When you invite someone to an outing and they accept, they can see the outing’s information, including any saved exact location, its photos, and companion contributions. Their own contributions are visible to the owner and accepted participants. Invitations use the recipient’s email address and can identify the inviter and outing title. A companion can choose to include a shared outing in their journal and make a book copy. Leaving an outing or removing a participant stops their future access through the shared-outing feature. It cannot recall an edition already saved to someone’s Field Library or a file they downloaded, shared or printed. Deleting your own saved book does not delete other people’s copies. Review stories, photos and locations before inviting companions or creating a book. You may create a reading link for a finished book in Field Library. Anyone with that link can read, copy or forward its contents, including the photos, companion contributions and locations you selected. Links can expire or be revoked; removing the saved book also revokes its link. Revocation stops future access through the link but cannot recall an already opened edition or retained copies. Reading links are not listed publicly or intended for search indexing. Review the complete edition before sharing it. 5. Providers and external services Provider Purpose and information involved DreamHost Hosting account records, private journal content, photos, saved books and server requests. Stripe Processing annual membership payments, billing details, subscription status and invoices. Card details are entered through Stripe; Field Chapters receives payment and membership records. Cloudflare R2 Private storage for uploaded photos and saved digital books. Resend Delivering verification, password-reset, invitation and contact-form emails, including sender and recipient addresses and message content. Google Analytics Public-page and feature usage, with technical browser/device information and analytics identifiers when permitted by your analytics choice. OpenStreetMap Map tiles for the area you view. Map requests reveal the viewed area and request information to the tile service. Open-Meteo / GeoNames Finding the city and state you submit for a map lookup. External asset hosts Loading map libraries and fonts, which can expose ordinary request information to their hosts. These providers operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Annual membership checkout is provided through Stripe. Physical ordering is not available yet; we will explain the information sent to print partners before ordering launches. 6. Cookies and analytics choices Necessary session cookies support sign-in and security. Browser storage also holds guest journals and your analytics preference. With optional analytics enabled, we retain a recognized podcast referral in browser storage for up to 30 days and attach that source to a new account when you sign up. We use the source with account milestones and confirmed membership status to understand marketing performance. Withdrawing analytics permission removes the browser referral; previously recorded account referral information remains until the account is deleted. Aggregate customer and advertising-spend reports are restricted to the owner. Optional Google Analytics measures public-page visits, navigation, filters and feature actions. Our event code does not send journal text, photos, names, email addresses, exact locations or authentication tokens as analytics properties. Most public page URLs sent by our code omit query parameters and fragments. Successful contact-form events include the complete submitting page URL, as does the contact message itself. Please avoid placing personal or sensitive information in page URLs. You can allow or decline optional analytics, and change that choice using Analytics choices in the footer. Analytics is off until you allow it. A browser Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal keeps analytics off. Declining analytics does not prevent you from using Field Chapters. Google’s practices are explained in its Privacy Policy . 7. Retention and deletion We retain account content to provide the service while your account is in use. Removing an outing from your journal currently hides it rather than permanently erasing its underlying record. Photos removed from an entry can remain in account storage. Removing a saved book from Field Library removes that stored edition, although copies outside your library and provider backups may remain. Contact us to request account closure or permanent deletion of account information. We may verify your identity before acting. Some records may need to be retained for security, resolving disputes or legal obligations, and deletion from provider backups may take additional time. This page does not promise that deleting an entry immediately removes every copy. 8. Your requests and choices You can edit your outings, export your journal and photos, control shared-outing participation, omit maps or companion memories from a book, and download or remove your saved editions. You may also contact us to request access, correction or deletion of account information, or to raise a privacy concern. Additional rights may apply under the law where you live; we will review requests under applicable law. 9. Security, location and children We use authenticated access and security measures to protect private content, but no service can guarantee perfect security. Our hosting and providers can process information in the United States or other places where they operate. Field Chapters is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided account information, contact us so we can review it. 10. Changes and contact We will update this policy as the service changes and change the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated through the service or appropriate account notices. For privacy requests, contact the Field Chapters team or email support@fieldchapters.com . Do not include your password or exact outing coordinates in a support message. Expire or revoke Choose the available revoke control to stop future access. A link also stops working when it expires or its saved book is removed. Revoking a link does not recall an already opened edition, downloaded file or retained copy. Updated October 10, 2026 · Open your journal A LITTLE EXTRA HELP We’re here for your next chapter. THE DAYS WORTH KEEPING Terms of Service Effective October 10, 2026 These terms describe how you can use Field Chapters, what you control, and what to expect from our early-access service. Field Chapters is your private outdoor journal. Your content remains yours. Sharing an outing gives accepted companions access to its memories and locations; saved, downloaded or printed copies cannot be recalled. Physical ordering is not available yet. 1. Using Field Chapters These terms apply to the Field Chapters website, account journal, shared-outing features, Field Library and book tools, provided by Field Chapters (“we,” “us” or “our”). By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled. You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you are under the age of legal adulthood where you live, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these terms. Do not create an account for a child under 13. Adults may record family outings when they have appropriate permission to include other people’s information and photos. 2. Your account Use accurate account information, protect your password and do not use someone else’s account without authorization. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. Email verification is required for inviting and accepting companions. Contact us if you believe your account has been compromised. 3. Your stories and photographs You retain ownership of content you upload. You give us a limited, nonexclusive permission to store, process, display and reproduce that content as needed to provide the features you use, including shared outings and book creation. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to us. Only upload material you own or have permission to use. Obtain appropriate permission before including another person’s photos, personal details or precise location. Do not submit content that infringes someone’s rights, unlawfully exposes private information, contains threats or harassment, or is otherwise unlawful. 4. Shared outings Inviting a companion and accepting an invitation are deliberate sharing choices. Accepted participants can see the shared outing, photos, contributions and exact location when recorded, add their own notes and photos, and choose whether to include the outing in their journal and book collection. Owners and participants must respect each other’s rights and permissions. Removing a participant or leaving an outing changes future access through the service. It does not erase copies that someone has already saved to their Field Library, downloaded, shared or printed. You must not assume a sharing choice can be completely reversed after others have made copies. 5. Books and printing Use Save draft to keep unfinished book choices, captions and chapter order. Signed-in drafts are saved to your account; guest drafts stay in this browser. Drafts use the current source outings when resumed, so changes or removal of shared content may affect them. Review the latest stories, photos and locations before publishing. Previously captured maps must be recaptured when resuming a draft. The current digital book tool prepares a standalone downloadable edition. Saving it to Field Library keeps a private snapshot in your account. Later changes to the source journal do not automatically revise that book. Downloading or sharing a file shares the contents you selected, including any embedded photos and maps. “Physical” and “Both” currently prepare printable proofs and record a preferred cover type. They do not place an order, charge you, reserve a product or guarantee availability of hardcover, softcover or leather editions. Browser print/PDF output is a proof rather than a printer-ready production guarantee. If physical ordering launches, you will receive pricing, shipping, production, cancellation and return information before checkout. Any print or payment partner’s applicable terms will also be presented. No purchase is required to use today’s proof tools. 6. Maps and outdoor responsibility Map tiles and city lookups depend on external providers and may be inaccurate or unavailable. Pin locations, journal observations and historical conditions are records, not navigation, safety, land-access or legal advice. Independently verify access permissions, current conditions, seasons, licensing, limits and other rules that apply to your outing. Recording an activity in Field Chapters does not authorize it. When you export a map, preserve the attribution and license information included with it. Do not use the service to bypass a map provider’s restrictions. 7. Early access, storage and backups Features and storage limits can change as Field Chapters develops. The service may be interrupted or contain errors. Guest content exists in your browser and can be lost if that storage is cleared. Keep copies of important stories, photos and books using the export and download tools. Account storage has limits shown in the service. Removing an outing is not currently permanent erasure of all associated data. The Privacy Policy explains retention and how to request account closure or permanent deletion. Paid memberships and renewal When paid memberships are available, Tradition costs USD $19.99 per year and Legacy costs USD $39.99 per year. Your selected annual membership renews automatically at the price disclosed in checkout unless you cancel future renewals through Manage membership in your journal. Stripe processes payment details and billing management. Paid features activate after payment is confirmed. Canceling future renewals keeps paid access through the end of your paid term. If a payment fails, the membership ends, or you return to Origin, the lower tier limits apply. Existing journal content, photos and saved books remain accessible; new uploads and saved books may be limited until usage is below your allowance. For billing or refund requests, contact the Field Chapters team. Any rights required by applicable law remain in effect. Origin includes basic outing totals, monthly activity and filters. Tradition and Legacy include the same Full Insights comparisons. Storage allowances are shown on the pricing page. Legacy printed-book savings apply only when eligible physical ordering becomes available; buying a membership does not place or reserve a print order. 8. Acceptable use and access Do not attempt to access another user’s private content, bypass authentication or storage limits, disrupt the service, introduce malicious code, or send abusive invitations. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, respond to unlawful use, or meet legal obligations. Contact us if you believe an access restriction is mistaken. 9. Service expectations and legal rights We aim to provide a useful, reliable journal, but cannot guarantee continuous availability, recovery of every lost file, error-free maps or compatibility of a print proof with every printer. To the extent allowed by applicable law, the early-access service is provided as available without promises beyond those expressly made in these terms. Nothing in these terms limits rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded. 10. Changes and contact We may update these terms as features develop and will update the effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the service or appropriate account notices. If you do not agree to updated terms, stop using the service; you may use available export tools and request account closure. For support, account requests or questions about these terms, contact the Field Chapters team or email support@fieldchapters.com . Do not send your password. Privacy Policy Your journal ## Scope This file contains public product information only.
